平溪镇位于福建省宁德市寿宁县西南部，镇政府驻平溪村。1934年设平溪乡，2013年12月撤乡设镇，镇域辖18个行政村。[1][2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

“平溪”之名据博雅地名网所载，因地处溪旁小平地而得名。明代此地分属政和里的七、八、九都，清代归西南乡管辖。[2][3]

民国年间区乡建制多次变动：1912年平溪村为平溪区公所驻地，1934年设平溪乡，1940年一度改称平溪镇，1941年又改回平溪乡。[3]

新中国成立后，平溪一带先后归平溪区、芹洋区管辖；芹洋区是1956年由平溪、托溪两区并入而成的。1959年设平溪公社，1984年公社改乡，成为平溪乡。[1][3]

1988年1月，碑坑、上党、下党、杨溪头、西山五个村从平溪乡分出，又添入芹洋、托溪两乡的部分村庄，共同组成下党乡。[1]

1989年，溪底村委会分出龙头坑村委会。2013年12月5日，福建省人民政府批复同意撤销平溪乡、设立平溪镇，镇域辖18个行政村。[1][3]
