外山村是犀溪镇东部的行政村，地处山地，海拔801米。其东侧是赖家洋村和犀溪村，西侧与大安乡泮洋村相邻，北面以坑底乡司前村为界；村庄离镇政府约14千米，距寿宁县城40千米。[1][4]

地名由来[edit]

村子坐落在山外，有“山外之山”的说法，故称外山。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

据陈氏房谱记载，清乾隆年间，陈氏第17世陈日忠由浙江景宁迁来，一年后定居外山，至今传27世。[2][5]

1990年，原属赖家洋村的茶园坑、冈炉等自然村析出，另设外山村委会。1984年撤社建乡时，此处仍属犀溪乡赖家洋村委会。2012年随犀溪乡改设犀溪镇。[2][5]

生态[edit]

村域林地面积较大，其中生态公益林1000多亩，是县级生态村。[4]
