历史沿革[edit]
建村时此地有一座「芳院」寺，村因寺得名。1347年，始祖穆山公由古田三十都的唐宦村迁入此地，子孙繁衍至今。[1][2]
建国前，此地属长桥区下的芳院乡。长桥公社时期（1958至1962年）设芳院大队，1963年转入路下公社。1984年改为路下乡芳院村委会，名称一直使用到现在。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村土地面积3.4平方公里，位于牛背峰下。村中有四条道路，分别通往屏城、北礁及田、建瓯，南行则到古田、福州。[2]
人口[edit]
全村359户，总人口1459人，辖2个自然村、12个村民小组（博雅地名网所载，年份未注）。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村中有「八景」之说，即双水夹田、一镜圆池、东岭松峰、西园竹翠、棋盘当道、马道环乡、虎头丫壮、牛背峰高。[2]
村中的「女有七仙」石碑坊建于清代，至今保存完好，2006年6月屏南县政府把它定为第四批县级文物保护单位。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2014年11月，芳院村列入第三批中国传统村落名录；2019年6月，被福建省人民政府认定为「第六批福建省历史文化名镇名村」；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2021年12月，被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]
