前院村位于屏南县东部，在甘棠乡境内，距县城约21公里，交通不便。[1]
地名由来[edit]
历史上村前有前后两座寺院，村庄建在前院的面前，因此得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
解放初，此地属长桥区甘棠乡前院村；1958年设甘棠公社前院大队，1984年改设甘棠乡前院村委会，地名沿用至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村域为中亚热带海洋性季风气候，雨量充足，森林资源丰富，森林覆盖率在六成以上。山地面积约14402亩，其中林地约11329亩，耕地约1038亩。[1]
