历史沿革[edit]
1938年，闽东红军独立师在村内完成改编，改编后的部队为新四军第三支队第六团，村中立有该团北上抗日的纪念碑。[3]
村庄在1958年划为棠口公社的棠口大队，1984年归入棠口乡并设村委会，2018年撤乡设镇时村委会改称棠口镇棠口村委会。[1]
荣誉方面，村庄于2012年1月被认定为第四批福建省历史文化名镇名村，2012年12月进入第一批中国传统村落的名录，2019年12月入选第二批国家森林乡村，2021年10月位列2021年福建省「金牌旅游村」。[1][6]

村内建有屏南红色文化博物馆，藏品3000多件。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
千乘桥位于村内水尾，为双孔木拱廊桥，桥长62.7米。其始建时期可追溯至南宋理宗在位期间，清嘉庆二十五年（1820年）经人重建。该桥属「闽东北廊桥」的一部分，这一组廊桥为第六批全国重点文物保护单位。[4][5]
