棠口镇是福建省宁德市屏南县下辖的镇，位于县境中部偏东，镇政府驻棠口村。屏南县人民政府的行政区划介绍把棠口镇列为全县五镇之一。[6]

2018年1月，福建省人民政府批复同意撤销棠口乡、设立棠口镇，原乡的行政区域和政府驻地都未改变。[3][4]

镇名原为棠溪，因位于棠溪与白溪汇水口，改称棠口。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

屏南建县之前，这一带隶属古田县。雍正十三年（1735年）屏南建县后，划归三都和五都。[3]

1936年，区公署设在棠口；1940年撤区设乡镇，棠口镇随之设立。[3]

1938年，闽东红军独立师在棠口村改编为新四军第三支队第六团。[9]

1958年9月，棠口指导组改称先锋公社，次年5月更名为棠口公社；1984年9月撤销人民公社，改设棠口乡人民政府。[2][3]

2018年1月10日，撤棠口乡设棠口镇的批复下达，文号为闽政文〔2018〕8号。[3][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇人民政府距屏南县城7千米，全镇总面积163.66平方千米。[4]

境内多山，平均海拔约850米。境内千米以上的山峰共15座，其中牛母石山最高，海拔1374米。[2]

棠口溪源出岭下乡峰尖北麓，流经多个村庄，至单条桥汇入金造溪，全长64公里。[2]

年平均气温15.5℃，全年无霜期约240天，属中亚热带季风区的山地湿润气候。[2]

文化[edit]

2012年，棠口村与漈头村被列入首批中国传统村落名录。[5]

福建省2021年度森林城镇的称号在2021年12月授予棠口镇。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

千乘桥位于棠口村水尾，是一座双孔木拱廊桥，桥长62.7米，可追溯到南宋理宗在位期间（1225至1264年），清嘉庆二十五年（1820年）曾经重建。该桥属「闽东北廊桥」，此组廊桥为第六批全国重点文物保护单位。[7][8]
