1950年归双溪区山头乡管辖；1958年改为双溪公社的山头大队；1984年双溪乡设立，此地成为山头村委会；1986年双溪乡改镇，村委会隶属双溪镇。[1]

2024年11月，村庄被认定为「2024年度福建省一村一品专业村」（高山蔬菜）。[1]
