中竹村位于泮洋乡东南部，距乡政府约9公里，群山环抱，全村115户368人。[1]

地名由来[edit]

建村时此地遍生根竹，又处山湾，称“根竹湾”；“根”与“中”方言读音相近，后改称中竹。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名原为根竹湾村，1979年改称中竹村。1994年，因造福工程，旧村根竹湾的耕地被复垦，全村陆续迁至山界林公路旁的新村址。[3]

1949年建立中竹村，1958年组建中竹大队，1984年改设村民委员会。[2]

自然与名胜[edit]

曲斗溪流经村境，溪中的龙潭是经长期水流冲刷而成的深潭，底大口小，溪水处处见底，周围有百余亩原始森林。[3]

旧村址的水尾佛殿建于清康熙年间，是村中每年正月庙会的主要场所。[3]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予中竹村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[2]
