村名的来历是：村子在大甲村旁边，早年村中大量竹子被砍伐，当地由此取名。[1]

小甲村于2021年11月被福建省爱卫办评定为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]

经济[edit]

村民收入主要靠花菇、黑木耳、太子参，以及粮食和劳务输出。花菇是村中的支柱产业，全村80%的农民栽培花菇和黑木耳，村子被列为省级生产菇基地。[2]
