上井边村在镇区北侧，是一个行政村。村名「井边」来自先人的一段迁居经过：村民原由叶姓人家迁入，他们此前曾在井边一带落户。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年后，村子隶属第七区。1958年归入鹤塘公社，当时称上井边大队；1984年改由鹤塘乡管辖，设为村委会，至今沿用。[1]

该村于2021年11月获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
