坑前村位于闽江中游南岸，与黄田镇镇区隔江相望。村名因村前有一条山坑而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋代，此地划在建东乡的和平里之内；元明两代归建东乡下的二都，清末改属西乡二都。[1][2]
1949年，村子先改属第四区谷双乡，不久又划入第五区，区公所设在谷口。1958年隶属谷口公社；1970年公社驻地迁往莪洋；1984年10月，这里改设莪洋镇。[1]
1990年3月，因修建水口水电站，镇址迁到黄田。[1][2]
1998年和2002年，村民分两批搬迁入镇区居住。[1]
