北壁乡是福建省宁德市霞浦县下辖的乡，位于东冲半岛南段，三面临海、一面背山，东北与下浒镇接壤。1986年7月，乡建制自下浒乡析出设立，乡政府驻北壁村。截至2020年6月，全乡辖11个行政村。[1][2][4]
2019年末户籍人口19719人。[2] 第七次全国人口普查时，全乡常住人口处于1万至2万人之间，较2010年有所减少。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
唐代至北宋时期，此地属连江县。[2] 南宋末年，文天祥南下入闽勤王时经过东冲一带，留有《长溪道中》诗二首。[1] 清代雍正、乾隆年间，东冲口被列为海防重镇，派千总驻守；光绪年间，此处设海关总口。[1] 1986年7月，北壁乡从下浒乡析出，与下浒镇同时分设。[2]
地理环境[edit]
乡境陆地面积，博雅地名网载为68.5平方千米，百度百科载为71.6平方千米，两说口径与年份均未注明。[1][2] 海岸线长32公里。[1] 东冲口历来是闽东海路的要口；乡境西北一侧濒临官井洋。[1] 气候属亚热带海洋性季风气候。[2]
人口与民族[edit]
乡内有畲族人口1600余人，盘前、武岩两村为少数民族村。[1]
经济[edit]
全乡以农业为基础，海上养殖与捕捞是发展重点。海产有鲍鱼、大黄鱼、石斑鱼、海带、紫菜，土特产有北壁米粉干、北壁地瓜烧和虾皮。[1] 乡内有东冲口陆岛码头、盘前陆岛码头，并有渔港数处，开通有通往宁德、连江等地的班船。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
东冲海关遗址「番仔楼」，以及抗日战争时期刻在岩壁上的摩崖石刻「国货救国」，都在东冲一带。[1] 河山村有河山秀峰禅寺，池澳村有流米寺，其中流米寺存北宋石刻。[1]
