洋边村地处盐田畲族乡东边，村址海拔超过500米，与乡政府相距约16千米；全村均为少数民族，也是省重点帮扶村。[1][2]

村因建于山中一片田洋边而得名。据博雅地名网，全村226户、940人，设9个自然村、8个村民小组，未注统计时间。[1][2]

村中林地资源丰富，土特产以茶叶、芦柑为主，保有畲族的民族风情。1958年设洋边生产大队，1984年改为洋边村。[1][2]

2021年11月，洋边村被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
