西澳村位于三沙镇西北部，靠山临海。村东与东澳村相邻，西与东壁村接壤。「澳」指海边弯曲可以停船的地方，村名因其位于西边而得。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
公社化那年，农业合作社归并为生产大队，西澳生产大队随之成立。1984年8月，人民公社改回乡政府，生产大队改为西澳村并选出村委会；同一年生产大队被撤，西澳村民委员会正式设立。[1]
基础设施[edit]
2013年村道实现水泥硬化，结束了村内多年没有村道的状况。2017至2018年间，村内建成村级公园与群众文化广场，并在旧村委楼基础上建成村级幸福院。[1]
荣誉[edit]
福建省爱卫办在2021年命名西澳村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
