西澳社区位于三沙镇镇区中心偏西，三沙街的一部分包含在社区范围内，是镇上主要的商贸地段。「澳」指海边弯曲可以停船的地方，社区名称因其位于西边而定。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949至1957年间，此地隶属西澳村；1958年改由西澳大队管理。1966年有了居委会，1972年归入三沙街委会。1976年居委会重新独立，2005年改设社区体制。[1]
经济[edit]
社区利用镇区人口集中的优势，引进外资与台资开发人文和旅游资源，发展集贸易、休闲、旅游与购物于一体的旅游经济。当地有哆法舞鞋、正阳摩擦工具等企业。[2]
