上澳村隶属下浒镇，居于东冲半岛中部内海的岸边，距镇区约13公里，只有一个自然村。[1]

村子建在海边一处弯曲的澳口上方，村名因此而来。[1]

村民共851人，分属260户。耕地389亩，其中水田177亩。村中以余、王、郑、周、林五姓为主。全村森林覆盖率86%。[1]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月将本村命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
