此地旧时竹林茂密，村子建在竹林下面，故名竹下。[1]
村落[edit]
村子下辖11个自然村，其中较大的有外沃、后沃、沙墩坪、竹下、圭心坑等；全村编为二十三个村民小组。[2]
人口[edit]
全村458户，共1867人。其中常住人口为1215人，60岁及以上的有423人，青壮年劳动力516人。[2]
外出流动人口652人，多数去往外省经商或务工。[2]
产业[edit]
村里种植的作物以水稻、水果和大棚蔬菜为主，另有其他经济作物。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年公社化时，此地设竹下生产大队。1984年政社分开，大队改称竹下村，并产生村民委员会。[1]
