洪口乡属福建省宁德市蕉城区，处在该区西北部，东面与霍童镇相邻，西面连接屏南县，北面与周宁县咸村镇接壤。乡人民政府设在大道头村，乡内现设12个行政村。[1][3]

洪口之名与地势有关：此处是霍童溪与梅溪的交汇处，洪水时常涨到村边。1987年，洪口乡自霍童镇分出设立。全乡面积102.96平方千米，气候为亚热带山地季风气候。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初，今洪口乡所在地域归霍童区管辖。1958年撤区，这里分设霍童与洪口两个公社，1959年洪口公社又并入霍童公社；1961年霍童改为区建制，1966年又恢复为公社，1984年定名霍童镇。1987年1月1日，洪口乡在霍童镇的辖域内分出成立。[1][2]

洪口乡获得的国家级荣誉为「2012年—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」，由环境保护部于2014年9月授予。2020年底，福建省爱卫办又将洪口乡确认为「福建省卫生乡镇」。[2]

水库移民[edit]

洪口水库的建设使多个村庄在2006至2007年间整体搬迁，村民分别安置在七都镇秋山尾、霍童镇霍童村的移民点，也有人迁往城区。未被淹没的原址位于洪口村，即为乡政府驻地。[2][5]

人口与经济[edit]

全乡户籍人口7293人（统计至2019年末）。种植业以水稻、薯类为主，此外出产茶叶与香菇。[1][2]

同一年度的统计显示，工业企业共3家，规模以上的只有1家；营业面积逾50平方米的综合商店与超市为5个。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

百度百科在乡级条目中列出洪口水库与吴峰传统古村落两处景点。吴峰村坐落在蕉城、屏南、周宁三县区相交的地带，入选「第四批国家级传统古村落」名单，建村可上溯至宋末元初。村中的传统手工艺有虎头帽、虎头鞋、酿造黄酒和竹制陶胆等。[1][4]
