碗窑村位于镇区东北约5.3千米，飞礁公路东南侧。村名的来历：17世纪30年代，闽南移民迁居杨溪一带，在此建窑烧制瓷碗，村因此称为碗窑。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1943年成立碗城乡，解放初为碗窑乡，1958年改为人民公社；1964年公社撤销，改设生产大队，1984年又改为村委会。1991年村与居分开，另设新瓷居委会，碗窑仍为村委会。[1][2]

经济[edit]

陶瓷业是村里经济的支柱，也是闽东地区的特色产业。产品以化工陶瓷和卫生洁具为主，大部分销往欧美和东南亚。[2]

历史文化名村[edit]

2019年6月，碗窑村入选「第六批福建省历史文化名镇名村」，名单由省人民政府认定。[1]

人口与姓氏[edit]

村内通行闽南语，是蕉城区的一块闽南方言岛。姓氏有30种左右，以黄、罗、蔡、吴、叶等为主。据史料，泉州开元是黄氏的来处，安溪则是罗氏的来处，南安诗山为蔡、吴、叶等姓的来处。[2]

村内保存6处具有历史和旅游价值的古建筑、古民居，另有3株大榕树，树龄都在170年以上。[2]
