芹屿村在洋中镇西北，与九都、霍童、虎贝三镇毗连，全村面积约9.45平方公里。村名来自村中遍生野芹，以及远望山头似海中岛屿的景象。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村委会驻地原名土地炉。村中野生芹菜遍地，村子坐落在云雾缭绕的山间，远望山头如同岛屿浮出水面，故称芹屿。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年村里组建生产大队，1984年改设村民委员会。村辖二十三个自然村，村内有十三个姓氏。[1]
