牛洞村是赤溪镇的行政村，位于镇区北面约5.5公里，牛垄山西北侧。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：相传这一带失踪的牛，都能在此洞中找回，故名牛洞。1958年组建大队，1984年改为村民委员会。[1]
人口民族[edit]
村下辖4个自然村（洋里冈、茶坪、牛洞、秋竹墘），共7个村民小组。全村有148户、560人，其中常驻200多人，出过大学学历的有9人。[1]
经济[edit]
村中耕地736亩，作物以稻谷和姜种为主。山林方面，林地4590亩，其中有林地3891亩，毛竹占1497亩，以松树和杉树为多。[1]
农事以稻谷、甘薯、茶叶为主，村中小杂货店有4间，年销售额约6万元。[1]
文化[edit]
村背凌峰山角有南北极仙翁寺。兰家山原有盘姓居民，据说遗址上偶有发现陶瓷制品和人骨。[1]
