班竹村是赤溪镇的行政村，位于镇区东北约4公里处，赤岔公路北侧，村中为少数民族行政村（确立于2004年12月）。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名来自古时村中盛产斑竹，后演变为班竹。该村为古村，宋代属安乐里，是当时境内的三个村落之一，《三山志》对此有所记载。[1]
1958年组建大队，1984年改为村民委员会，2004年12月起为少数民族行政村。[1]
人口民族[edit]
全村共577人、145户，常驻256人，其中少数民族46户、198人。村辖九条冈、斑竹等2个自然村，共8个村民小组。[1]
经济[edit]
耕地980亩，以稻谷、茶叶为主产；林地5919亩，其中有林地4558亩，林木以松、杉、毛竹为主。[1]
班竹村获「2023年福建省卫生村」称号，命名时间为2024年1月。[1]
文化[edit]
村内古建筑有祠堂2间、宫1座。村前有相连的五座山峰，被称作「五龙相会」，是村中的风景点。[1]
