村子早年叫青岩，因村后山多青石；方言读成兴贤，寄望村中出现有学识的人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1956年设大队，1984年改设村委会。[1]

2015年10月，兴贤村入选「福建省第一批省级传统村落」；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2025年9月，列入「2025年度蕉城区一村一品专业村储备库」；2025年11月，被确定为「福建省2025年度省级一村一品专业村」（互叶白千层）。[1]
