1958年设大队，1984年改设村委会。[1]

2019年，溪南村党支部被蕉城区委授予先进基层党组织；福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予溪南村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1][2]

据蕉城区人民政府2022年12月发布的村情页，全村占地1.677平方公里，有溪南、邑村、磨碓三个自然村，5个村民小组，162户709人。[2]
