外洋村位于七都镇西北部，在镇区西北10公里，高山顶山脚下。村子因坐落在耕地洋面之外而得名[2]。
历史沿革[edit]
1958年与小溪同属溪口大队，1979年分出外洋大队，1984年改称外洋村委会[1]。
人口与经济[edit]
村辖下外洋、下高山、高山、楼后、溪口、乌坑、郑坑、柴林湾和外洋共9个自然村，全村9个村民小组。人口814人，其中畲族有98户、396人，常住550人，大学文化以上5人；户数217户[2]。
林地9751亩，耕地472亩。农业为本，产稻谷、甘薯、茶和竹笋，水果有龙眼、柿、桃和香蕉[2]。
古迹与荣誉[edit]
村子属老区村，村内有多株古榕树、樟树和红豆杉[2]。2021年11月，外洋村被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」[1]。
