下宅园社区位于蕉南街道南部，在美女山下，东至宁川路，西至蕉城南路（104国道）。[1][2]

因住宅旁有一块园地而得名。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初这里叫务本街，是南门三个“务本”村之一。1958年设大队；文革时期曾设革命领导小组，1966年又恢复大队。[1]

1985年起称村民委员会；2003年4月5日，此地改设下宅园社区居委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内的土堡亭始建于明万历二十年（1592年），是宁德城池的前哨。亭后有祝寿庵，始建于清乾隆二十一年（1756年）。[1][3]

庵旁有仙娘禅，旧时经过宁川的官员多到此朝拜。[1]

石佛像因城市建设于1998年迁至金钟山，并在当地重建石佛堂。[1][3]
