荷园社区位于蕉南街道，建新村前这片土地是种植荷花的池塘，社区因此得名。旧时居民靠莲子与莲藕谋生。[1]

2003年成立荷园社区居民委员会。2021年11月，社区获福建省爱卫办命名，称号为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]

地理环境[edit]

辖区东面靠近104国道，西侧是南山，北侧接闽东西路，南侧通往新工业路。[1]

辖区内有鹤峰路、天湖路与富春路，社区内的荷园新村、葫芦花园与坪塔小区是主要居住区。[2]
