桂东村位于漳平市南端，是革命老区村，村中有民居和祠堂列入漳平市第一批历史建筑。[1][5]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：明代村中建有“龙龟庵”，庵旁一处石洞里有乌龟，村名因此而来。早先叫龟洞洋，后谐音写作桂东洋。[1][6]

据博雅地名网所载，村庄自明万历十一年（1583年）开基。村民多为入闽始祖、宋朝举人李火德的后裔。[1]

1934年此地称桂东保，属第二区（永福）官田联保，1940年后为官田乡的桂东保，直到1949年前夕。1949年初属官田乡；1950年至1952年，为官田区（第四区）的桂东乡，1956年并入永福区（第三区），仍叫桂东乡。1957年撤区并乡，归永福督导片的官田乡。1958年化为官田公社的桂东大队；1984年体制改革后，称官田乡桂东村。[3]

人口民族[edit]

村民属汉族，风俗属客家，讲闽南语系的方言，信仰佛教和基督教。[1]

村里以水稻和高山铁观音为主，兼营林业，出产木材、毛竹和茶叶。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村庄位于漳平市南端，主峰火烧额头山海拔1530米，村庄平均海拔850多米。[1]2010年漳平地貌所载，桂东村海拔为843.8米。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

村中的五户公祖祠、村祠、松茂祠等，被列为漳平市第一批历史建筑。[5]

文化[edit]

乡政府网站称本村为「漳平首批传统村落」。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2017年8月，本村列入福建省第二批省级传统村落名录。2021年11月，省爱卫办确认本村为2021年福建省卫生村。2021年12月，本村获命名为2021年度福建省森林村庄。[1]
