上界村的村名经过几次改写。明清两代村落已经成形，村南是一道高而平直的山脊，旧时风水先生把它比作横梁吊着铜钟，因称村子为「钟盖」。后来方言里音近的说法写成「上堺」，1980年全国地名普查时以「堺」字生僻为由，改为今名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1934年这里称陈上堺保，先后隶属第二（永福）区新安联保、新安乡和永福镇。1949年初为新安乡的上堺村，1950年至1952年后隶属党泰区，称上堺乡。1958年改称上堺大队，先后归党泰、拱桥公社管辖。1984年起改用今名上界村，归拱桥乡管辖。1995年3月，拱桥乡改制为镇，本村隶属未变。[1]
近年荣誉：上界村入选第二批「国家森林乡村」，名单由国家林业和草原局于2019年12月公布。2020年12月，上界村被确定为「福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村」。福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予上界村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2024年6月，认定为「2024年漳平市一村一品专业村」（笋竹）。[1]
