吾老村位于溪南镇南部，海拔390米。村名的来历是：早年黄氏自安溪迁来开基，起初搭寮放牧谋生，寮名「牛寮」，后以方言谐音改为今名。[1]

全村总面积20576亩，其中林地15890亩（生态公益林5020亩），耕地1949亩（旱地150亩）。果林1890亩，茶山560亩，毛竹3100亩。[1] 全村有3个自然村、6个村民小组，共400户、1380人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1934年属吾坪保，最初隶溪南（第三）区，中间经上坂联保、溪坂乡，后归溪南镇。[1] 1949年初为溪南镇的吾老村，1950年代初属第五区上坂乡，后分出吾老乡。1958年成为吾老大队，归溪南公社；1961年改归上坂公社；1964年又回并溪南公社。1984年政社分开后称吾老村，隶溪南乡；1989年撤乡改镇，仍属溪南镇。[1]
