金菊村位于溪南镇南部，离溪南集镇约20公里，离319国道约12公里，地处偏僻。村名原为「荆竹村」，后以谐音演化为今名。[1]
概况[edit]
全村海拔300至800米，下辖5个自然村，其中一个是少数民族自然村，共设6个村民小组。[1] 全村共298户、1130人，常住人口约900人，另有约200人长年在外务工，村落分布较散。[1]
全村耕地1740亩（水田1140亩，旱地600亩），山地4.3万亩，林地3.8万亩，其中毛竹林1.6万亩，国家生态公益林1.3万亩。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1934年此地称金坂保，最初隶溪南（第三）区，中间经上坂联保、溪坂乡，后归溪南镇。[1] 1949年初为溪南镇金坂村，1950年代初属第五区的上坂乡。1958年为金菊大队，归溪南公社；1961年改归上坂公社；1964年回并溪南公社。1984年政社分开后称金菊村，隶溪南乡；1989年撤乡改镇，仍属溪南镇。[1]
