颍水村位于永福镇东南部，离镇驻地约8.6千米，村落分布在群山涧谷之间[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

早先蔡氏到此涧谷开辟定居，地名叫“蔡水”。后来陈姓人迁入，蔡氏衰微，又以“蔡”“赤”同音，改称“赤水”。建国初，一度借用陈氏郡望“颍水”作名，后仍称赤水；1990年为避免与赤水乡同名，改用今名[1]。

明清时期此地属永福里。1934年称赤水保，最初隶第二区赤水联保，此后归官田乡；土改后设赤水乡，属第四区；1956年随官田撤区并入永福区。1958年改为赤水大队，属永福公社；1961年一度划归赤丰公社，1964年复归永福公社；1984年改称赤水村，隶永福乡；1987年永福设镇，1990年5月改称颍水村[1]。

经济[edit]

村内多产木材、毛竹、香菇、木耳和香蕉，并有钨、铜、石墨等矿藏[2]。

文化[edit]

村属革命老区村[2]。
