新坑村位于永福镇西部，离镇驻地约3.2千米，村名由地处坑谷的地形而来[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

此村约在元末明初开辟，最初叫“新兴”；因地处坑谷，方言里“新”“城”读音相近，遂写作“城坑”，后定为今名[1]。明清及民国初期此地属永福里吕坊社，当时称城坑乡[1]。

1934年以后，此地先由第二区北河联保统辖，此后划入福里镇，再并入永福镇。土改后分属三个乡，1953年并为新坑乡；公社化后设新坑大队，属永福公社。1984年起改称新坑村，仍属永福乡，1987年永福改镇后也仍归其管[2]。

经济[edit]

村中耕地以单季水稻为主，兼种烟叶；新坑与新厝两地出产少量水晶矿石[2]。

名胜古迹[edit]

村内有建于明成化四年（1468年）的“平直庙”古建筑一座[2]。
