历史沿革[edit]
村名源于流经两岸的员当溪。1934年，此地为赤员香联保的员当保，后改称赤员香乡。1949年以后，此地先称员当村，又称员当乡。[1][2]
宁洋县随1956年的撤县并入漳平，员当一带归双洋区下的员当乡。1957年区制撤销，并入双洋督导片。1958年划入东风公社，设员当大队；1961年改隶双洋公社，1984年复设为村，1989年随双洋乡改镇。[1]
文化[edit]
2021年11月，村获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
员当村在2022年10月被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
