城外村因地处原宁洋县城之外而得名，村内有城外、石坑、岩坑三个自然村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1934年，此地属宁洋县城厢联保，后为城厢镇的新横保。1949年后为宁洋县城厢镇的城外村，其后改称城外乡。[1]

1956年宁洋县撤销，村划归漳平县双洋区双洋乡；1957年撤区并乡后归双洋督导片双洋镇。1958年为东风公社双洋大队，1961年改称城外大队，1984年改称城外村，1989年双洋乡改镇后称双洋镇城外村。[1]
