高美村位于新桥镇南部，地处偏远山区，距新桥镇区40多千米，村内以毛竹林为主。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名先称「隔林」，因村地在隔山东北麓、林木茂盛；其后林氏自大田迁入，改称「林高尾」；清代又见「超尾」「排尾」之称，最后以谐音雅化成现名。[1]

1934年为西河保，属第三区溪南联保，其后划入新桥镇，称高美保。1949年初又划回溪南镇，改称高美村；此后隶溪南区大山乡，再归新桥区，并一度设立高美乡。1958年起属新桥镇管辖，1984年仍为新桥镇所属村。[1]

地理环境[edit]

全村山地约32200亩，其中一部分为拨交的国营采育场用地；毛竹林约7500亩；耕地约846亩。全村辖7个自然村，共202户709人（博雅地名网所载，未注年份）。[1]

经济[edit]

毛竹是村民的主要收入来源，村财收入有限。[1]
