厚福社区位于桂林街道南部，在九龙江南侧，南面与闽西南商贸城及汽车货运南站接壤。社区原为厚福村，1995年改设居委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

地名原名前割、后割，后因“割”“葛”方言同音写作后葛，再改称厚福。据博雅地名网，“厚”寓意高度与数量之多，“福”寓意幸福与福气。[1]

民国时期此地称厚福保，先后隶第一区桂林联保与桂华乡，之后并入菁城镇。1958年改为厚福大队，历经红旗、城郊、桂林几个公社管辖，1984年称厚福村。1995年3月，桂林撤乡改设街道办事处；同年4月，村委会撤销，改为居委会。[1]

经济[edit]

2021年10月，本社区被认定为2021年漳平市「一村一品」专业村（蔬菜）。[1]
