北街社区是莲峰镇下辖的社区，位于县府以北，属镇中心区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

地名因位于县府北侧而来。建县时此处被划为崇儒坊，俗称北门，后设立北街社区。[1]

1949年初设北大街街委会，隶属莲峰镇。此后曾并入附城的超美公社，又分出；1974年改属城关镇，1984年恢复乡镇建制后又归莲峰镇。2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本社区为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
