民主乡是福建省龙岩市武平县的一个乡，位于县境西南部，地处武夷山脉南段，距武平县城32公里。全乡处在闽、粤、赣三省交界处，乡政府驻民主村。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地最初叫禾坪，因村舍建在溪流的源头又称溪头，清末再称禾坪。解放后开会定公社名称时，按群众意愿改名为民主，这就是今名。[2]

民国时期此地称和平乡，1913年起属和平区，苏维埃时期仍属和平区，1940年改称和平乡。新中国成立后先后划入第三区、中山区和下坝区。1958年4月设立民主公社，两年后的1960年2月起并入中山公社，次年恢复建制；乡的建制于1984年10月重新设立。[2]

2014年9月，环境保护部授予民主乡「国家级生态乡镇」称号，所指为2012年至2013年度。此后，民主乡先后获评龙岩市「平安乡镇（街道）」：2021年1月为2020年度，2023年1月为2022年度，2024年1月为2023年度。[2]

地理环境[edit]

乡域平均海拔318米，溪流属韩江流域，主流名为民主溪。气候为亚热带季风气候，年平均气温18.5℃，年降水量约1750毫米，无霜期约270天。[2][3]

乡域东面与中山镇相接，南面与本县下坝乡及广东省平远县差干镇毗邻，西与江西省寻乌县项山乡交界，北与寻乌县罗珊乡接壤。按县政府网站的说法，全市只有这一个乡位于闽粤赣三省的交接地带，属山区乡镇，当地称之为「一脚踏三省」。[1]

2020年末，全乡有1545户、7158人，以汉族为主。全乡分为64个村民小组。[1][3]

经济[edit]

乡内农作物以烤烟和小米椒为主，盛产高埔茶、杂果和毛竹，矿产以稀土矿、花岗岩为主。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

高书村是乡内的红色遗迹所在地。1929年2月，红四军前委曾进入该村，村中设有「红四军入闽第一村」陈列馆，并保存朱德讲话旧址。[4][5]
