育平村是中赤镇下辖的村，地处福建与广东交界一带。村庄距天汕高速公路与205国道的接轨处约8公里，交通较为便利。[1]

村民以种植业、养殖业和池塘养鱼为主，山地面积较大。据百度百科，明代起义首领丘隆出生于此地。[1][3]

地名由来[edit]

村庄驻地的自然村名为育平，村以此得名。[1]

地理与人口[edit]

村内有9个村民小组，分布在5个自然村落。全村总人口1518人，山地面积14870亩，耕地1046亩，人均约0.61亩，劳动力804人。这些数字博雅地名网未注统计年份。[1]

金山寨一带连片1400多亩山地划为生态公益林。[1]

山地上种有毛竹林基地约800亩、桉树林约1000亩，其余为松木林、阔叶林和用材林。村中有种植金桔的传统。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，此地设育才保，属下坝乡。1958年撤区并乡时，原育平分成三部分，此处成为中赤乡的育平村。人民公社时期设育平大队。1984年育平村委会成立，隶属中赤乡，此名延续至今。[1]

著名人物[edit]

丘隆是明代中叶的起义首领，出生于箬菜，据百度百科，箬菜即今育平村所在之地。成化二十三年（1487年），他与驻武平千户所的军官刘铎一同起事；正德七年（1512年）兵败被俘，在上杭就义。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2021年1月、2023年1月与2024年1月，村庄分别被评为2020年度、2022年度、2023年度「龙岩市平安村居（社区）」。[1]
