四周是山，中央平缓如同一口塘，此地原名坪水塘，后改为平沿。[1]

人口与土地[edit]

全村总人口1233人，设12个村民小组，耕地600亩，人均约0.5亩，劳动力732余人。这些数字博雅地名网未注统计年份。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年撤区并乡之际，这里是中赤乡的一个平沿社。人民公社时改为平沿大队，归中赤公社管辖。1984年设平沿村委会，仍属中赤乡。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年1月，村庄被评为2020年度「龙岩市平安村居（社区）」；2024年1月，又被评为2023年度同一称号。[1]
