上赤村位于中赤镇中南部，中岩公路与中十公路在村境中段交汇，中赤河穿村而过。[1]

村内以种植业和养殖业为主，山林面积较大，主要靠种植仙草、烤烟增加收入。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村子位于中赤河上游。沿河旧有上、中、下三处「赤」的称谓，此处居上，故称上赤。[1]

地理位置[edit]

村庄距镇政府约8公里，距武平县城32公里，东面距岩前镇13公里，东北面距十方镇11公里。[1]

人口与土地[edit]

村内分为六个片区，计29个村民小组；全村有535户，人口2163人。耕地约1723亩，山林则有25652亩。村党支部有党员78名。这些数字博雅地名网未注统计年份。[1]

山林中种有杉木、松木，并有阔叶林、竹林和经济林果。[2]

村民的主要收入来自仙草和烤烟的种植，另有养殖业。据博雅地名网，2013年度人均收入6280元。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，此地为中赤乡的一保与二保。建国后划为十方区，村名定为上赤；1952年改设十方区上赤乡。1958年划归中赤乡，称上赤村，人民公社时成为中赤公社的上赤大队。1984年，上赤村委会成立，隶属中赤乡，此名延续至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

省爱卫办于2021年11月授予上赤村「福建省卫生村」称号。2024年6月，村庄入选「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]

2021年1月，村庄被评为2020年度「龙岩市平安村居（社区）」；2024年1月，又被评为2023年度同一称号。[1]
