中赤村是中赤镇中心区的村庄，镇政府所在的集镇即位于村内。[1][2]

全村农业以种植水稻、仙草和烤烟为主，兼有养殖，也有不少村民外出务工。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子位于中赤河中游。河两岸岩石多有渗水，水色偏赤，因此河得名中赤，村又以河名为名。[1]

人口与土地[edit]

全村总人口3159人，下设27个村民小组，分布于17个自然村落，有党员98名。土地面积约26.9平方千米，其中耕地1500.23亩，人均0.47亩。山林方面，林地为3.7万亩，全村的森林覆盖率则有86.5%。这些数字博雅地名网未注统计年份。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在民国时期分为四个保（平岗一、平岗二、万康、尝喜），归中赤区万成乡管辖。新中国成立后，它一度称为下坝区的万成村，之后又归下坝区的万成乡。1958年转入中赤乡，人民公社时期成为中赤公社的中赤大队。1984年，中赤乡中赤村委会设立，此名沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，中赤村获得2021年度的「福建省森林村庄」称号。2021年1月，它又被评为2020年度「龙岩市平安村居（社区）」。[1]
