中赤镇是福建省龙岩市武平县下辖的镇，位于县境西南部，距县城约26公里。东面与岩前镇交界，南面与广东省蕉岭县广福镇相接，西面连着下坝乡，北面与城厢镇、十方镇相邻。[2][3]

镇政府驻地在中赤村。镇名取自流经本地的中赤河：河两岸的岩石中渗出的赤色水较多，故名。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地隶属和平乡，明代属归郡里。民国初年设中赤区，民国二十九年（1940年）改称万成乡；苏维埃时期属中赤区，其间有两个乡建立了苏维埃政权。[2]

建国初，本地先后划入城厢区与下坝区。1958年4月组建中赤乡，当年11月转为中赤公社；1960年一度归入下坝公社，翌年重新划出；1984年10月公社体制结束，中赤乡得以再度设立。[2]

2018年11月，福建省人民政府批准将中赤乡改制为镇，维基百科也采用这一月份。次年1月2日，新镇举行揭牌授印典礼。百度百科则写作2018年4月设镇。[2][3][1]

地理环境[edit]

据博雅地名网，全镇面积为113.6平方千米，耕地9272亩，林地14.6万亩，森林覆盖率在83%以上，水域面积约120万平方米，镇境位于梅江上游。该页未注明统计年份。[2]

镇境属亚热带季风气候，夏季较长、冬季较短，气候温热湿润。[2][1]

截至2020年末，全镇登记3004户，人口10572人，居民中汉族占多数。[2]

2021年1月，中赤镇上榜2020年度「龙岩市平安乡镇（街道）」名单；2023年1月与2024年1月，又先后获得2022年度、2023年度同一称号。[4]

2021年2月，中赤镇列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[4]

著名人物[edit]

丘隆是明代中叶的起义首领，出生于箬菜，据百度百科，箬菜即今育平村所在之地。成化二十三年（1487年），他与驻武平千户所的军官刘铎一同起事，队伍扩大到数千人；正德七年（1512年），三省官兵合力镇压，起义军失利，丘隆被俘，后在上杭就义。[5]
