历史沿革[edit]
村名与所处位置有关：此地正在一条公路的起点。[1]
民国时期此地设始通保，属城厢镇。1978年从原大队中析出，另立始通大队，1983年归城厢公社。1984年改设村委会，归城厢镇管辖，村名延续至今。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村内七个村民小组散布在五个自然村落中，包括钟一、钟二、刘一、刘二、下岗、丰口、佛子高。[1][2]
经济[edit]
村民以种植烟草、水稻、仙草与蔬菜为主，兼营立体生态养殖。[2]
文化[edit]
2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予始通村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2024年1月，本村列入2023年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」名单。[1]
