亭头村位于桃溪镇北部，省道205线穿过村境，路段长约5.2公里，村内山林面积大，森林覆盖率在八成以上。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
地名来历：据传宋代有一位李姓先人，用一根藤条投入溪中，顺藤条漂流停靠之处择地定居。藤条停在急水滩下，于是在此居住，初称“停头”，后改为“亭头”。[1]
宋代这里归永宁乡亭头保，民国时仍名亭头保，隶属桃溪区桃溪乡。建国后设亭头乡，同属桃溪区。公社化之后组建亭头大队，归桃溪公社。1984年设村委会，沿用至今。[1]
土地革命时期，亭头是武平土地革命斗争的发生地之一。[2]
文化[edit]
村子是省级革命好老区基地村，2011年后多次获得县、镇两级的先进支部与绿色村庄称号。[1]
