历史沿革[edit]
名称的来历：1966年，城东、城北两个大队合并；经城关人民公社批准，定名为红东大队，取「东方红」之意。[2]
清代这里的东门一带称文明坊，北门一带称集贤坊。民国时期归城厢镇管辖，分设文明保和集贤保。1958年，城东、城北两个大队隶属城关人民公社；1983年，这里的大队改称红东村，归属平川镇。[2]
2018年，红东村改为红东社区居民委员会，隶属平川街道。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
社区内有红东李氏宗祠和崇真观两处文物古迹。红东李氏宗祠俗称蛇形祠堂，始建于明代；崇真观始建于明洪武十三年（1380年）。[3][4][5]
文化[edit]
2015年10月，社区入选福建省第一批省级传统村落。[1]
