新民村在官庄畲族乡东南端，东侧和才溪镇的才民村接壤，西侧与树人村相连，少数民族居民占多数。[1]

地名由来[edit]

此地原名蛾蚣子坑、赤教坑，后改称新民，寓意有新的风尚。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代为平安里所辖，民国时称新民保。[2] 解放后的1949年，此地定名新民村；1956年组建新民高级社。[2] 1958年公社化，本村成为官庄公社的新民大队。[2] 1984年改设官庄乡的新民村民委员会，1988年起称官庄畲族乡新民村民委员会。[2]
