岩头村位于湖洋镇中部，东与文光村相接，北与元丰、加庄村相邻。村名的来历是村后山上有一块较大的岩石。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时此地隶属元迳保。解放初设农会分会，归信和区（第十一区）管辖；1951年至1954年划入附城区的一个乡，1956年组建岩头高级社。[2][4]

1958年公社化后改为湖洋公社岩头大队，1961年划归寨背公社，1965年回到湖洋公社。1966年一度与邻村合并，1979年复分为两个大队，本村仍称岩头大队。1980年设管委会大队，1984年改为湖洋乡岩头村民委员会，2013年改属湖洋镇。[2][4]
