水东村是旧县镇下辖的行政村，位于镇的南端，与临城镇交界，205国道贯通全村。村子距镇政府和县城中心都约10公里。[1]

村名的来历：据说张姓先人开基后，村民在老虎坑处开凿了一条引水渠，向东直通村头，故称水东。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

土地革命时期村子属旧县区苏维埃政权，民国时设三益乡的水东保。解放后设水东村农会，属旧县区。1953年设水东乡，1954年改属附城区，1956年入高级社。[3]

1958年公社化后分连、排两级。1959年改大队，1961年归旧县公社管辖，1966年起属红岩公社；1984年改为旧县乡水东村民委员会，2012年改称旧县镇水东村民委员会。[3]

地理环境与经济[edit]

村中林地面积6350亩，耕地835亩。村中以种粮为主，兼营养殖，每户平均养有一头牛。[1]

养殖专业户有15户，其中300头以上的种猪场有二户。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 水东村于2021年11月获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[2]
